I tried playing Gears of War 4, and the thing freezes LITERALLY every few seconds. It seems lazy and completely uncaring towards consumers. I have to say, I am BEYOND upset with the way MS handles it's store, apps, and god-aweful UWP platform. Please do not take this as me being negative towards you, I also saw others suggesting to kill the Explorer process in other troubleshooting "tips", and given the fact MS seems hell-bent on not fixing it's UWP platform, well, making usersįind ways to fix Microsoft's mistakes kind of seems like it comes with the territory. That seems very archaic, I work in IT, and to tell End Users to do such a thing makes sense for the more technically inclined, but I dont think that is the best course as a blanket solution. Personally, I dont find it reasonable to tell users to kill Explorer in order to have a decent gaming experience.
Preferred UAC settings (never notify, way low) that seemed to fix it. If I changed my UAC (User Access Control for the laymen) and bumped it up a few notches, reboot, and play the game, then the mouse correctly locks to the center of the screen (at least not allowing the taskbars to re-appear). So to answer your question - it was happening in any/all games, but I found a strange fix. Meanwhile, I would also encourage you to provide a feedback using theįeedback hub on Windows 10, so that our engineering team can look into this. Windows Explorer will be restarted and you will have all the windows back again.
Run new task, type explorer.exe and click on Task Manager by following Step 1, and click on Windows Explorer process, right click on it and select End Task. This will allow you to play the game uninterruptedly. The workaround is to close Windows Explorer process while you are playing game. If you are facing this issue with all the games, then you can try one workaround and see if that helps. If you are facing this issue with one particular game, then there must be some in game setting that you might have to change. We would like to know, if this issue occurs with all the games or only with one particular game. Ideally, some games allow you to hide the Taskbar while playing games and some will show the Taskbar by default.
